torque Attach cover, USing new gasket, seal, and sea ringsDip screws in Perfect Seal No4 and tighten to specified torqueInstall new grommet in impeller housing to prevent exhaust gases from getting into the COOling system, causing overheating and pre-ignitionIt is especially important that the impeller hOUSing seal ring fit properly to prevent exhaust gases from feeding back into the intake manifold through the driveshaft tubeInstall "0" ring on driveshaftoReassemble stern bracket and shock absorbers, if disassembled, and attach to front exhaust coverInstall upper and lower thrust washers as taggedPlace outer exhaust housing in position in front exhaust coverpAttach and tighten four screws through front exhaust cover to rubber mount on outer exaust housingAttach gear case extension, if usedqPlac adapter assembly with inner exhaust tube, water tubes, and new seals, gasket, and grommets in positionTighten two screws at each rubber mount and five screws to outer exhaust housing Make cer tain that water tube grommets remain in positionInstall power head as described in Section 5rPlac assembled gear case in position under exhaust housingThread shift cable through exhaust housing opening and through new gasket and exhaust housing plate and cable clampInstall new "0" ring on driveshaftCarefully raise gearcase in pOSitionmaking sure that driveshaft spline is aligned with crankshaft and water tubes are correctly positionedOil or liquid soap applied to ends of water tubes will aid assembly and avoid damaging grommets or sealsFasten gear case to exhaust housing (or gearcase extension, if used), dipping each screw in Perfect Seal No 4, and tighten to torque specified in Section 2s Install rear exhaust cover, using new seal ring to prevent passing exhaust gases up into the motor cover which will affect idle and high-speed operation of the motorAttach rear lower motor cover
