cINSPECTION
1) Measure the brush lengthIf the brush length is less than the service limit, replace the brush holder assembly
Standard 12.5 (0.49 in)
Service limit 8.5 rnm (0.33 in)
2) Check for continuity between the brushesThere should be no continuity between the brushesIf necessary, replace the brush holder as an assembly
ARMATURE
1) Check the armature for wear or damageCheck the overrunning clutch installation section of the shaft for wear or damageReplace if necessary2) Visually inspect the commutator surface for dust, rust or other damageIf necessary, wipe it with clean lint-free cloth or dress with fine emery cloth
