1) Clean off oil or grease from the spline section of the ver-
tical shaft lower end and pinion gear I.D2) lnstall the forward bevel gear to the gear case

3) lnstall the vertical shaft into the gear case4) Instal! the pinion gear shim, and thrust washer and
pinion gear
5) lnstall new E-clip with cham fered edges facing the pinion gear side, using commercially available snap ring installer taking care not to bend or deform the E-clipDo not reuse the removed E-clip6lnstall the following: -water pump (Pa4-16)- propeller shaft holder (P4-81- propeller (P4-2)7) lnstall the gear case assembly (P4-10)
