DISASSEMBLY AND SERVICE PILOT SCREW REPLACMENT NOTE: Use caution when drilling into the pilot screw plug to avoid damaging the pilot screw
The pilot screw is factory preset in order to comply with EPA emission regulationsThe pilot screw plug is installed to prevent pilot screw misadjustmentDo not attempt to remove the pilot screw for adjustmentThe pilot screw plug should not be removed unless the carburetor is overhauledCover all openings with tape to keep particles out when the plug is drilled
1Center punch the pilot screw plug to center the drill pointTo prevent drilling into the pilot screw, attach drill stop mm (18 in) from the end of the mm (532 in) drill bitDrill into the plug centerThread self-tapping mm screw into the drilled plug and continue turning the screw driver until the plug rotates with the screwPull on the screw head with pliers to remove the plug Use compressed air to clean the pilot screw area and remove metal shavings
