MAINTENANCE
VALVE CLEARANCE INSPECTIONI ADJUSTMENT
Valve clearance inspection and adjustment must be performed with the engine cold and the piston at TOC of the compression stroke Remove the engine cover (page 4-3) Rotate the flywheel to align the "T" mark on the flywheel (A) to the index mark on the starter case Check the clearance of both valves on the camshaft base circle by inserting the feeler gauge (8) between the adjusting screw (C) and the valve stem
STANDARD CLEARANCE: 0.060.10 mm (0.0020.004 in) (INEX)
If adjustment is necessaryloosen the lock nut (D) and turn the adjusting screw by using the special tool until there is slight drag on the feeler gaugeHold the adjusting screw in this position and tighten the lock nutRe-check the clearance with the gauge
