MAINTENANCE
IGNITION TIMING ADJUSTMENT CONTACT BREAKER TYPE
Remove the engine cover (page 4-3) Connect timing tester or ohmmeter as shown
Timing Tester

Rotate the flywheel to align the "F" mark on the flywheel to the index mark on the starter case At this time, the contact breaker points should just start to open (15
Flywheel Locking Screw

B.TD.CTo adjust the timing, loosen the breaker plate locking screw and move the contact breaker plate to achieve correct timing Re-tighten the locking screwRotate the flywheel one full turn, and check ignition timing for the other cylinderRe-adjust the contact breaker points, if necessary, so the ignition timing will be as correct as possible for both cylinders
