MAINTENANCE
ENGINE OIL LEVEL INSPECTIONOIL CHANGE
OIL LEVEL INSPECTION
Start the engine, let it warm up to the normal operating temperatureand stop the enginePlace the outboard motor in the vertical position (with the engine level)and remove the engine cover (page 4-3) Remove the dipstick (A) and wipe it clean with shop towelInsert the dipstick into the oil level pipeand then remove it and check the oil levelCheck whether the oil level is dirty or has milky colorIf the oil level is lowremove the oil filler cap (1)and add the recommended oil to bring the oil level up to the upper level mark on the dipstickRECOMMENDED ENGINE OILHonda 10W-40 FC_WTM outboard motor oil If Honda 10W-40 FC WTM is not available, the recommended engine oilSAE 10W-40 API Service classification SGSHSJ Install the oil filler capdipstick
OIL CHANGE

ACAUTION
Used engine oil contains substances that have been identified as carcinogenicIf repeatedly left in contact with the skin for prolonged periods, it may cause skin cancerWash your hands thoroughly with soap and water as soon as possible after contact with used engine oilDrain the used oil while the engine is warm Warm oil drains quickly and completelyPlace the outboard motor on level surface and position the outboard motor vertically (with the engine level) Remove the oil filler capdipstick (A) Place suitable oil container next to the outboard motorRemove the oil drain plug bolt (A) and drain the engine oilPlease dispose of used motor oil in manner that is compatible with the environmentWe suggest you take used oil in sealed container to your local recycling center or service station for reclamation Do not throw it in the trashpour it on the groundor down drain
