8BACKLASH ADJUSTMENT
FORWARD GEAR
After selecting of the shim(s), remove the water pump (see page 12-8) install the following parts on the gear case securelyandVertical shaftlbevel gear (page 12-1- Propeller shaftlpropeller shaft holder (page 12-2)Propellerpropeller shaft holder assembly (page 12-1 )
PROPELLER SHAFT HOLDER 07LPB-ZV30300
1) Tighten the 20 hexboltsHold the propeller shaft securely with the special tool as shownTighten the special tool center bolt to N-m (0.5 kg-m, 3.6 ft-lb)
6 20 mrn HEXBOLT (2) 121 CENTER BOLT
TOOL: Propeller shaft holder
2) Set the special tool on the vertical shaft as shown and attach the tip of the dial gauge the special tool

TOOL: Backlash inspection attachment
3)Turn the vertical shaft right and left white pressing it down with
approximately kg (11.0 Ibl of force and measure the backlashStandard 0.10-0.29 mm (0.004-0.01 in)
