1) Measure the brush length If the brush length is less than the service limit, replace the brush holder assemb ly
Standard
12.5 mm (0 .49 in)
Service limit
8.5 mm (0.33 in)
2) Check for continuity between the brushes
There should be no continuity between the brushes If necessary, replace the brush holder as an assembly
ARMATURE
1) Check the armature for wear or damageCheck the over-
running clutch installation section of the shaft for wear or damageReplace if necessary2) Visually inspect the commutator surface for dust, rust or
