6Drive out armature brush terminal assembly from housing 2Armature ground testAPlace armature in growler jaws and turn power switch to TEST position Figure 9BTouch one test lead to armature coretouch other lead to each commutator bar one at time If test light glows on any bar, armature is grounded and must be replaced

APlace armature in growler jaws and turn power switch to GROWLER position BHold steel band parallel with and touching armature core Turn armature slowly in growler jaws If steel blade vibrates at any area of the core, area is shorted and armature must be replaced Figure 8
