DISTRIBUTOR GeneralThe distributor used on the cylinder Chrysler Outboard Motor is "breakerless preamplifier (a switching device containing light emitting diode and light sensitive switch) replaces the breaker pointsA cup with three (3) equally spaced windows is attached to the rotorAs the distributor shaft rotates, the windows in the rotor cup allow the light emitting diode to rigger the light sensitive switch which signals the C-D unitRemoval

CRemove two (2) bolts securing bracket to power headDSlip distributor belt off pulley and remove brack et with housing
WARNING

Disconnect battery1Remove distributor cap assembly (base, seal, cover) as follows :
ADisconnect high tension lead wire from ignition

coil by pulling boot away from coil, then pulling lead wire from coilFigure 18
