7If you have the plug wire removed and there is strong spark across the gapthen there is leakage and the cap should be replaced8Test each terminal individually and remember to reconnect the wire you've just tested If you don't, you will have an open circuit and will not be able to tell if there is leakage from any of the other terminals9Remove the coil output wire which goes from the coil to the distributor and ground the coil end of it by using separate jumper wireAttach one end of the jumper wire to the end of the coil output wire and the other end to good engine groundThe distributor cap is still removed in this part of the test Figure 24 DISTRIBUTOR CAP
