The 7585 horsepower outboard motors have CD ignition systemregulated generating system and electric starting system C-O Ignition System Battery current flows to the CD unit, where it is stored Battery current is also conducted to the distributor where it energizes light emitting diode
armature rotatesengaging the starter pinion with the engine flywheel ring gearAs the engine fires and speeds upthe starter armature is overrun causing the pinion to disengageThe ignition switch is then released, opening the circuit between it and the relay The relayno longer energized, breaks the circuit between the battery and starter moto rAn interlock switchwired in series between the ignition switch and starter relay is safety feature preventing the starter from working if the motor is not in neutral Generating SystemI this system 12 veilt battery is used to provide startingillumination (boat lighting or navigational aids) and accessory operation In order to maintain chargethe battery requires direct current
