3Assemble bearing cage for shimming as follows: AMake sure bearing cage is cleanBInstall bearing cup in cage with rear cup installer (Special Tool No 8910) and handle (Special Tool NoT 8907)
CMake sure indicator is tightwhen the mounting rod is tappeddial reading should not change DPush down on sides of reverse gear to make sure contact with gauge is good ESet dial to zero
CAUTION
In next stepdo not set clamp over middle of gauge This could distort pilot hole4Install checking gauge in vise Figure 29 5Install propeller shaft assembly in gauge 6Install two (2) silver spacers (No 8981 for 15:30 gear ratios) in checking gauge 7Install bearing cage as follows :
