Never use emery cloth to clean commutator3Clean dirty commutator with No400 fine sandpaper4Turn armature down on lathe if it is worn or out of round more than 0.005 inch 5Inspect armature shaft for scoring and excessive wear 6Inspect bendix drive assembly pinion gear for damageAn engine that has repeated starter moto pinion failures should be inspected for :
