STARTER MOTOR TROUBLESHOOTING CHART
If your test results shows: 1Low cranking speed and higher than normal current draw
The probable cause could be:
ALoose pole shoes
BGrounded armature
CShorted armature
DShorted field 2Very high current draw and no armature rotation
ADirect ground at igniton switch
BDirect ground at starter brushes
CDirect ground on field connections
3No current draw and starter fails to operateIgnition switch
BBroken or loose wire connections
CInterlock switch (defective)
DRemote controls improperly adjusted
