7If you have the plug wire removed and there is strong spark across the gap, then there is leakage and the cap should be replaced 8Test each terminal individually and remember to reconnect the wire you've just tested If you don 't, you will have an open circuit and will not be able to tell if there is leakage from any of the other terminals9Remove the coil output wire which goes from the coil to the distributor and ground the coil end of it by using separate jumper wireAttach one end of the jumper wire to the end ofthe coil output wire and the other end to good engine groundThe distributor cap is still removed in this part of the testFigure24 DISTRIBUTOR CAP
