GENERAL
The 70, 7585 horsepower outboard motors have C-D ignition system, regulated generating system and electric starting systemC-D Ignition SystemBattery current flows to the CD unit, where it is stored Battery current is also conducted to the distributor where it energizes light emitting diode
armature rotates, engaging the starter pinion with the engine flywheel ring gearAs the engine fires and speeds up, the starter armature is overrun causing the pinion to disengageThe ignition switch is then released, opening the circuit between it and the relay The relayno longer energized, breaks the circuit between the battery and starter motorAn interlock switchwired in series between the ignition switch and starter relay is safety feature preventing the starter from working if the motor is not in neutralGenerating SystemIn this system 12 volt battery is used to provide starting, illumination (boat lighting or navigational aids) and accessory operationIn order to maintain charge, the battery requires direct current
