MANUALSTARTER GENERAL
The information in this section is concerned with removing the manual starterdisassemblyinspection and repa ir, and installation of the manual starterlocated at the front of the starter bracket It consists of shaft and interlock tab The interlock prevents the motor being started in gear
OPERATION
With the motor in neutralpulling on the starter rope turns the spool in counterclockwise direction pre- loaded rewind spring inside the spool is held stationary at the bottom while the top turns with th spool building further spring pressure to return th rope when released The pinionlocated at the top of the spool, is retained by pin On either side of th pinion are cam-shaped slots allowing the pinion to turn full 180 on the spool and simultaneously rise to engage the flywheelFigure 1
