FLYWHEEL RemovalTo remove the flywheel crankshaftproceed as follows:

AWARNING
Cracked or chipped flywheels must be replaced At high engine RPM, damaged flywheel may fly apart throwing shrapnel over large area Inspect taper in bore of flywheel as follows1Remove flywheel key from crankshaft2Apply light coating of valve grinding compound to tapered portion of crankshaft
1Remove nut securing flywheel to crankshaftTh read knock-off nut (T18091) on crankshaft unti it bottoms on flywheelback nut off two full turns 2Drive flywheel removal tool (T2989) between flywheel and top of power head in approximately 1 inch from initial contact point with flywheel
CAUTION
Angle wedge to avoid contact with stator ring Pry up on flywheel with removal tool and tap knockoff nut with 16 ozhammer as show in Figure 1
3Install flywheel on crankshaft and rotate flywhee gently back and forth about 14 turndo not spin flywheel completely around crankshaft4Rotate flywheel 90 and repeat above operation
