TESTING Conduct this test on the motor in test tank or on the boatProceed as follows: 1Remove carburetor to fuel pump hose2Connect fuel pressure gauge between the carburetor and fuel pump
Inspection and RepairAfter the fuel pump has bee disassembled, wash all the metal parts in cleaning solvent and inspect and repair the following :

Before testingloosen fuel tank vent on cap to release any pressure that may have built upFuel tank should not be more than 24 inches (61 cm) below fuel pump3Start motor and observe the gaugePump pressure should read as outlined in Table 1R.P.M
CAUTION
Do not wipe dryas the lint from cloth may clog filter 2DiaphragmBecause of the relatively small volume displaced by the flexing of the diaphragmthere must be no leaks in the fuel system Visually check diaphragm for holes or breaksHold up to light, observe for pin hole leaks3Reed PlateReeds must lie flat when placed on the reed plate so when secured with screw and washer they have neither tensionwhich woul restrict fuel flowor stand openwhich would allow fuel to flow unchecked Figure 8REED MUST NOT SHOW SIGNS OF WARPAGE
