LUBRICATION POINTS GeneralTo insure proper operation of this motor, all points requiring lubrication must be serviced with the correct lubricant at the proper time intervalRefer to Table and proceed as followsGear Housing Lubricant Level CheckTo check level of lubricant in gear housing place motor in normal operating position and proceed as follows:
3Add lubricant until it appears at vent hole4Install vent plug and washer5Remove nozzle, install fill plug and washerWipe off excess lubricantStarter Pinion GearTo lubricate starter pinion gear proceed as follows: 1Wipe old lubricant from pinion and starter spool tube2Apply light coating of lubricant with small brush to gear teeth and spool tube3Pull starter rope slowly until pinion gear engages flywheel ring gear and apply grease to bottom of spool tubeFigure 3
AWARNING
Disconnect spark plug high tension leads and ground them to support plate to prevent accidental starting 1Inspect for water contamination as follows: ALoosen, DO NOT REMOVE, gear housing, drain plug Figure 2BAllow small amount of lubricant to drain If water is present, it will drain prior to the lubricant
