SECTION IXMANUAL STARTERSTARTER COMPLETE ARemove engine cover-upper as outlined in Section IV, paragraph 1-IBRemove starter by removing four (4) hex nuts and lockwashers which secure starter to fuel tankSee figure 1

CRemove metal washer and fiber washerLift friction shoe assembly from rotor shaftSee figure 2DRemove remaining metal washer, fiber washer and spring from rotor shaft
2-2Installing Friction Shoe Assembly
APlace spring, metal washer and fiber washer on rotor shaftBInstall friction shoe assembly on rotor as shown in figure 2
CPlace remaining fiber washer and metal washer on rotor shaft and secure with retaining ringDInstall starter complete as outlined in Section IX, paragraph 1-2

APlace lockwashers on studs on fuel tankPlace starter on fuel tank and secure with four hex nuts, but do not tighten nutsBPull starter rope to engage friction shoe plates against starter cup and tighten nuts down securelyThis procedure centers starter assembly in relationship to starter cup
