1-1 Removing Starter Motor Assembly
cover1Remove starter bracket assembly from powerheadJRemove red lead from lower ter-
ADisconnect battery leads from battery terminalsBRemove nut and positive battery lead (red tip) from upper post of starter relayCRemove two (2) leads connected to interlock switch on exhaust port coverDRemove lead connected to choke solenoidERemove ground lead screwed to support plateFRemove screw securing starter clamp to crankcase coverGRemove two (2) screws securing starter bracket (lower) to crankcase cover (see figure 1)

ASlide clamp over starter with the most rounded corner of clamp upBInsert starter "thru" bolts through holes in starter bracketSecure with lockwashers and nutsSee figure 1CInstall lockwasher, red lead from starter, and nut on lower terminal post of starterDSecure starter bracket to crankcase cover with two (2) screwsESecure starter bracket lower to crankcase cover with two (2) screwsClip for fuel line belongs under port screw and negative lead from battery belongs under starboard screwFUse self-tapping screw and lockwasher to secure starter clamp to boss on powerheadSee figure 2GInstall lockwasher, black double lead, and screw on support plateHInstall lockwasher, green lead, and nut on terminal post of choke solenoidIInstall lockwasher, yellow lead,
