Removal NOTE
On electric start modelsthe ignition components bracket is removed prior to removal of starter assembly1Remove three (3) screws and lockwashers securing starter to power head Figure 2

2Tilt starter to starboard side so interlock lever clears flywheel and remove starter from power head

Disassembly
DPress interlock lever out of the way of the pulley and allow rewind spring to draw in starter rope ETurn pulley back and forth to make sure there is no spring tension against pulley
1Remove pulley and rope as follows :
ARemove three (3) screws and retainer securing pawl plate to starter housing Figure 3BRemove shims (may not apply) pawl plate and pawl plate spring
