Removal
1Remove manual starter as outlined in Section 62Remove flywheel nut: keep flywheel from turning by placing large screwdriver between flywheel teeth and bracing it against starter mounting boss on crankcase coverFigure 2
A wide variety of ignition testers are available from various manufacturersIn addition, some automotive testers having the proper specifications can be used The use of ignition testers is particularly recommendedsince these units have provisions for checking all functions of the ignition system The following tests are made with the Merc-OTronic analyzer
