9Install gear housing cover as follows

BSlid cover down driveshaftCApply sea lant to threads of cover screws Special To No 8983 Install screws finger tight10Install water pumpas outlined in this sec ti und er water pump ATorque three (3) cover screws to 70 in Ibs(80 kgm) 11 Pressure test gear housing as followsRemove vent screw from starboard side of gear housing BThread adapter of pressure tester (Special Tool No 8950) in vent hole of gear housing Tighten adapter securely CPressurize housing to 10 p.s .iObserve gauge for one minute There must be no pressure drop If pressure drop is notedimmerse housing in water, repressurize to 10 p.s.i and observe for air bubbles DReplace any seals seen to be leakingthen repeat pressu re test
