Move test leads to other set of brushes Same resu Its are required If resistance or dim light occurs, replace brushes WARNING

Wear safety glasses when using compressed air1Clean starter framearmature, drive assembly and end caps with brush or compressed air2Inspect armature for loose connections at the point where armature windings are attached to commutator bars Resolder any poor connections
Poor connections cause arcing and burning of commutator
CAUTION
Never use emery cloth to clean commutator3Clean dirty commutator with No400 finer sandpaper4Turn armature down on lathe if it is worn or out of round more than 0.005 inch 5Inspect armature shaft for scoring and excessive wear 6Inspect bendix drive assembly pinion gear for damageAn engine that has repeated starter motor pinion failures should be inspected for :
AProper ring gear alignment
