3Connect analyzer small red lead to adapter red input terminal4Connect analyzer small black lead to adapter black input terminal5Connect analyzer large red lead to the coil secondary output6Connect adapter red test lead to either primary coil terminal7Connect adapter black test lead to remaining primary coil terminal8Make sure current control knob is onLa ", and turn selector knob toCOIL POWER TEST" position 9Slowly turn current control knob clockwise until meter pointer shows 1.7 on theCOIL POWER TEST" scale At this timethe spark gap should be firing steadily 10Return the current control knob toLaand turn selector knob toOFF"If spark gap was firing steadily, the coil is good Leave the tester connected and test the coil highspeed If spark gap was not firing steadily, re place the coilFigure 27Testing Coil Surface Insulation CURRENT CONTROL KNOB
