BRemove sixteen (16) screws (eight [8], each carburetor adapter) that secure assembly to power head Figure 2C Carefully lift assembly away from power headseparating plunger from choke solenoid 5Remove reed valve assemblies by removing two (2) screws that secure each reed valve assembly to deflector plate Figure 3Inspection

1Inspect reeds Reeds must lie flat on reed plate without tension (preload) which restricts airflowor stand open more than .010" (.255 mm) which allows air to be expelled through the carburetorFigure 4ACheck for tension (preload) by gently pushing each petal out Constant resistance should be feltExcessive tension (preload) will result in "cluck" sound when the petal is pushed out
Reeds that do not meet this standard or that show obvious damagesuch as cracks or pieces broken off, must be replaced2Inspect reed stopsReed stop opening should be .310 .010 (79 .255 mm) Figure 4
