COOLING AND BILGE SYSTEMS 9-5 Bilge System
Breather Removal
RemoveSeat (see Seat Removal in the HullEngine Hood chapter) Handrail Plate (see Handrail Plate Removal in the HullEngine Hood chapter) Pull the hoses [A] off the breather Unscrew the mounting bolts [B]and remove the breathers [C]
Breather Installation
Be sure the small hole [A] in the breather is open before installing it Apply non-permanent locking agent to the breather mounting bolts and tighten them
Breather Cleaning and Inspection
Check that the small hole in the top of the breather is open by blowing in one end of the breather and plugging the otherIf the hole is pluggedclean it with compressed airDo not open it with pointed object (like needle or piece of wire)because the hole may be enlargedIf the hole is too largethe bilge system may not suck water out of the hull as it should
