FUEL SYSTEM (OFI) 3-73 Throttle Lever, Cable and Case
Remove the steering cover (see Steering Removal in Steering chapter) Unscrew the grommet mounting bolts [A] and pull out the plate [B] and grommet Cut off the clamps [C] and remove the protect tube [D] Take the throttle cable [E] off the grommet Pull down the throttle cable
Throttle Cable Installation
Lubricate the outside of the new cable with penetrating rust inhibitor to ease cable installation Slide the tip [A] of the cable lower end on the throttle pivot arm [B]
Tighten :
TorqueThrottle Case Mounting Screws: 3.9 Nm (0.40 kgfm34 inlb)
Route the following correctly (see CableWireand Hose Routing in Appendix chapter)Throttle Cable Steering Cable Fuel Tank Vent Hose StartStop Switch Leads Buzzer Leads Multifunction Meter Leads Adjust the following Throttle Cable Check that the throttle lever moves smoothly from full open to closeand the throttle closes quickly and completely in all steering positions by return spring If the throttle lever does not return properly, check the throttle routingcable adjustments, and cable damage Then lubricate the throttle cable Run the engine at the idle speedand turn the handlebar all the way to the right and left to ensure that the idle speed does not change If the idle speed increases, check the throttle cable adjustment and the cable routing
