Throttle Control System Inspection
Inspect the throttle lever free play [A] If the free play is incorrect, adjust the throttle cable
Throttle Lever Free Play Standard: about mm (0.08 in
Check that the throttle lever moves smoothly from full open to closeand the throttle closes quickly and completely in all steering positions by the return spring If the throttle lever does not return properly, check the throttle cable routingcable adjustments, and cable damageThen lubricate the throttle cable Run the engine at the idle speedand turn the handlebar all the way to the right and left to ensure that the idle speed does not changeIf the idle speed increase, check the throttle cable adjustment and the cable routing
Remove the seats (see Seat Removal in the HullEngine Hood chapter) Check throttle cable adjustment With the throttle lever releasedthe upper stop [A] on the throttle pivot arm [8] should rest against the stopper [C] on the throttle body, and there should be slight slack in the throttle cable When the throttle lever is fully applied (pulled ), the lower stop [0] on the pivot arm should be all the way up against the stopper on the throttle body Loosen and turn the locknuts [A] at the bracket until the upper stop on the pivot arm hits against the stopper on the throttle body with slight cable slack Tighten the locknuts securelyTorqueThrottle Cable Locknuts: 20 Nm (2.0 kgfm14 ftlb)
