13-22 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Ignition System

The ignition system produces extremely high voltageDo not touch the spark plugs, ignition coils, or spark plug leads while the engine is running, or you could receive severe electrical shock
Crank Position Sensor (CPS) Inspection
Disconnect the 2-pin CPS coil lead's connector (Blue) [A]m Set the hand tester to the 100 ft range, zero it, and connect it to

the CPS lead terminals (Orange and Black) in the connectorIf there is more resistance than the specified value, the coil has an open lead and must be replacedMuch less than this resistance means the coil is shorted, and must replacedbe
Crank Position Sensor (CPS) Resistance Standard: 430 30

Ignition Coil Removal Pull the spark plug capm Pull the primary lead connector [A] off the ignition coilm Unscrew the mounting bolts [B] and remove the ignition coil
