IGNITION
CDI Igniter Removal Model 550650 Series First, remove and open the electrical box, as outlined in Ignition and Charge Circuit Testing, beginning on Page 7-8Next, disconnect the 6-pin connector inside the boxFor each high-tension lead, back the Black cap from the White threaded fitting on the side of the electrical boxPull out the small Black grommet from inside the threaded fittingThe high-tension lead is an integral part of the CDI ignitere spark plug "boot" and remove the termin from the end of the highove the two attaching screws up and out of the electrical box, and at:the same time feed the high-tension leads through the White threaded grommet caps in the side of the boxGDI Igniter Installation Model 550 and 650 Series Apply coating of non-permanent locking

lead to the BlackRed from the exciter coilMake contact with the other meter lead to the BlacWellow lead from the exciter coilThe meter should indicate 250 380 ohmsIf the meter reading is less than the value just given, the exciter coil most likely has short, ng (infinity) indicates the coil has an open circuitLow reading or no reading means the coil must be replacedIf the coil is in satisfactory condition, the problem cause is probably loss of magnetism in the flywheelThe flywheel must be replaced-
