Battery Cleaning
Remove the battery from the hull (see Battery Removal) Clean off the battery using bakling soda-and-water solutiona Mix one heapingtablespoon of baking soda in one cup of watera Be car,eful not to get any of the cleaning solution in the batteryaThe terminals must be especially clean Rinse the battery with clean water
Electrolyte [evellnspection
Remove the battery 'Visually check the electrolyte level [A] in the batteryIf the level of electrolyte in .any cell is below the lower I,ev,ell line on the battery case, add distilled water only to that cell Install the battery
Condition
Before chargling, check battery condition by testing the specific gravity of the electrolyte in each cella Draw al liittle fluid from the cen with hydrometer[A]a Read the level of the electrolyte rB]an the floating scaleThis is the specific gravity of the electrolyte
