Maintenance and Inspection: Compression Measurement
.Thoroughly wann up the engine, while checking that there is no compression leakage from around the spark plugs or the cylinder head gasket
Do not run lie engine for more than 15 seconds wilhout cooling
:, water Stop the engine Remove the spark plugs and screw compression gauge firmly into the spark plug hole
Special ToolsCompression Gauge: 57001-221 [A] Compression Gauge Adapter: 57001-1159 [8]
Using the starter motor, tum the engine over with the throttle fuilly open until the compression gauge stops rising; the compression is the highest reading obtainable Repeat the measurement for the other cylinder
