13-16 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM -Cround the spark plug leads to prevent starting during the test-Sct voltmeter to DC volts, low range (2.5 V), and perform the following tests:

TEST OF -Connect the meter as shown-Crank the engine and observe the voltage indication1 the voltage exceeds 0.25 vo'lt, clean the connecti,ons replace the battery positive ,cab,le
OTo prevent meter damage, connect the leads to the solenoid switch only WHI LE the engine is cranking and remove the Ileads before disen,gaging the electric stalrter
-Connect the meter positive (+) lead to solenoid as shown -Attach the meter negative (-) lead to the solenoid while the engine is cranking and remove the lead before disengaging the electric starterObserve the voltage indicationIf the voltage exceeds 0.25 volt, replace the solenoid switch assembly
