4-4 EXHAUST SYSTEM -When connecting the stainless pipes, push the connecting tube to the weld on the exhaust pipe mounting bracket
AMounting Nuts -Take the exhaust manifold off the cylinder block
Exhaust Pipe and Manifold Installation
-Exhaust pipe and manifold installation is the reverse of removalNote the following-install the exhaust manifold gasket so that the hole in the center of the gasket is up-Tighten the clamps securely
Exhaust Pipe and Manifold Cleaning and Inspection
-Clean the carbon deposits out of the .Jxhaustpassages with blunt, roundedged tool-Flush foreign matter out of the water passages with fresh watere:heck the insides of the water passages for corrosionCheck the gasket surfaces for nicks or other damageIf there is excessive corrosion or if the gasket surfaces are so badly damaged that they will not seal properly, replace the part-Check the stainless pipe carefully for cracks, especially in the weldsAlso look for corrosion both inside and outIf there are large cracks in the stainless pipe walls or welds, or if it is very corroded, replace the stainless pipe-Check the rubber parts for cracks, tears, hardening, or general deteriorationIf the rubber parts show damage or if they leak, replace them
