CHECKING THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL 1Place the vehicle on level surface2Check the engine oil level on cold engineTIP: If the engine was started before the oil level was checked, be sure to warm up the engine sufficiently, and then wait at least 10 minutes until the oil settles for an accurate reading3Remove: seats rear console Refer to "SEATS, ENCLOSURE, HOOD AND CARGO BED" in chapter 8
4Check: engine oil level Oil level should be between the minimum level mark and maximum level mark bOil level low Add oil to the proper levelTIP: To obtain an accurate oil level reading, the dipstick must be inserted completely into the oil filter holeRecommended engine oil type YAMALUBE 4-CW (5W-30) or SAE 5W-30, YAMALUBE (10W40) or SAE 10W-40, YAMALUBE (20W-50) or SAE 20W-50 Recommended engine oil grade API service SG type or higher, JASO standard MA NOTICE Engine oil also lubricates the clutch and the wrong oil types or additives could cause clutch slippageTherefore, do not add any chemical additives or use engine oils with grade of CD or higher and do not use oils labeled "ENERGY CONSERVING II" Do not allow foreign material to enter the crankcase
