CHECKING THE STEERING SYSTEM 1Place the vehicle on level surface2Check: steering assembly bushings Move the handlebar up and down, andor back and forthExcessive play Replace the steering stem bushings3Check: tie-rod ends Turn the handlebar to the left and right until it stops completely, and then move the handlebar slightly in the opposite directionTie-rod end(s) have vertical play Replace the tie-rod end(s)4Raise the front end of the vehicle so that there is no weight on the front wheels5Check: ball joints andor wheel bearings Move the wheels laterally back and forthExcessive free play Replace the front arms (upper and lower) andor wheel bearings
