Air Cleaner Element Cleaning
Air cleaner element cleaning Every months Inspect and clean the air cleaner element in the following procedures: 1) Remove the air cleaner elementRefer to "Air Cleaner Element Removal and Installation in Section 1D (Page 1D-4)"2) Inspect the air cleaner element for cloggingIf it is clogged with dirt, clean or replace it with new one

7) Remove the drain plug (1) of the air cleaner box to allow any water to drain out

If driving under dusty conditions, clean the air cleaner element more frequentlyThe surest way to accelerate engine wear is to operate the engine without the element or to use torn elementMake sure that the air cleaner is in good condition at all timesLife of the engine depends largely on this component Inspect the air cleaner element for tearsA torn element must be replaced3) Fill wash pan of proper size with nonflammable cleaning solventImmerse the air cleaner element in the cleaning solvent and wash it4) Press the air cleaner element between the palms of both hands to remove the excess solvent: do not twist or wring the element or it will tear5) Immerse the element in motor oil, and then squeeze out the excess oil leaving the element slightly wet
