Differential: Breather Rubber Case Inspect the breather rubber case (1) for wear or damageIf any defects are found, replace the breather rubber case with new one 3B-30
3) Install the left side shim(-s) and final driven gearSpecial tool (A): 0990020607 (Dial gauge (1100 mm, 10 mm)) (B): 0990020701 (Magnetic stand) Final gear backlash Standard: 0.02 0.06 mm (0.0008 0.0024 in) (without gear cover specification) Standard: 0.08 0.13 mm (0.0031 0.0051 in) (Gear cover assembled specification)

Final Gear Backlash Inspection and Shim Adjustment
4) Measure the backlash with the dial gauge, as shownTake backlash readings at several places while turning the final drive gear shaft in each direction and securely holding the final driven gearIf the backlash is not within specification, the shim must be changed and the backlash should be re-checked until the backlash is within the specificationCheck to the table for the appropriate shim thicknessNOTE Adjust the backlash by referring to the table and using the thickness of the removed shims as guideBacklash Under 0.02 mm (0.0008 in) 0.02 0.06 mm (0.0008 0.0024 in) Over 0.06 mm (0.0024 in) Shim adjustment Increase shim thickness Correct Decrease shim thickness
