SHAFT DRIVE AND DIFFERENTIAL (LT-F300F)
TOOTH CONTACT
After backlash adjustment is carried out, the tooth contact must be checked Remove the front driven bevel gear Clean and degrease several teeth on the front driven bevel gearCoat these teeth with machinist's dye or pastepreferably of light color Reinstall the front driven bevel gear with the shims in place, positioning the coated teeth so that they are centered on the front drive bevel gear Install the front driven gear bearing case, and then tighten the bolts to the specificationDriven gear bearing case bolt: 21 Nm (2.1 kg-m, 15.0 Ib-ft)
NOTE: At this time, it is not necessary to install the shifting related parts
Rotate the front drive bevel gear several turns in each directionwhile loading the front driven bevel gearThis will provide contact pattern on the coated teeth of the front drive bevel gear Remove the front drive bevel gear, and inspect the coated teeth of the front drive bevel gearThe contact patch should be as shown at right: If the tooth contact pattern is correct, as shown ingo to the Final Assembly sUb-section on p4-30 to complete installation
