SHAFT DRIVE AND DIFFERENTIAL (LTF300F)
Place the secondary driven output shaft assembly on the crankcase using the special tool
,gtt 09921-21910: Bearing holder
Set dial gauge as shown on the secondary drive bevel gear and measure the backlash by turning the drive bevel gear in each direction, reading the total backlash on the dial gaugeStandard Secondary bevel gear backlash: 0.07-0.15 mm (0.003-0.006 in)
NOTE: Remove the coupling and coupling joints when measuring the backlash
If the backlash is not within the specification, the shims must be changed and the backlash should be re-checked until correctRefer to the chart at the right for appropriate changesNOTE: When changing the shims, measure the thickness of old shimsUsing the thickness of the old shims as guide, adjust the backlash by referring to the chart at the right
