VALVE CLEARANCE
Inspect initially at 200 km (100 miles, month) and every 000 km (1 200 miles, months) thereafter
Excessive valve clearance results in valve noise and insufficient valve clearance results in valve damage and reduced powerAt the distances indicated above, check and adjust the clearance to the specifications Remove the seat(See p6-2 Remove the left rear mud guard CD Remove the spark plug and valve inspection caps Remove the TOG plug Remove the recoil starter(See p3-6
Valve clearance (When cold) IN 0.03-0.08 mm (0.001-0.003 in) EX 0.17-0.22 mm (0.007-0.009 in)
NOTE: Valve clearance is to be checked when the engine is coldBoth the intake and exhaust valves must be checked and adjusted when the piston is at Top-Oead-Center (TOC) of the compression stroke Turn generator the generator rotor until the piston is at TOG on the compression stroke by turning the starter cupTurn the rotor until the "T" line on the rotor is aligned with the mark on the crankcase Insert the thickness gauge to the clearance between the valve stem end and the adjusting screw on the rocker arm
