PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
AIR CLEANER
Clean every 000 km (600 miles, months)
If the air cleaner is clogged with dust, intake resistance will be increased, with resultant decrease in power output and an increase in fuel consumption Check and clean the element in the following manner
Remove the seat(See p6-2 Remove the air cleaner case cover CD Remove the filter holder W, and then remove the air cleaner element
Remove the screw and separate the polyurethane foam element (1) and element frame (ID Fill container with non-flammable cleaning solventImmerse the air cleaner element in the cleaning solvent and wash it Squeeze the cleaning solvent out of the washed element by pressing it between the palms of both hands: do not twist or wring the element or it will tear Immerse the element in motor oil and squeeze the oil out of the element leaving it slightly wet with oil
