FINAL DRIVE DisassemblyInspection
1Drain and properly dispose of used oilRemove any metal particles from the drain plug magnet2Remove the piston pump assembly from the gearcase4Remove the outer cover plate assemblyRemove and inspect the cover o-ring (A)Replace items as required
NOTE: Thrust bearing (2) located between the two output assemblies is pressed into the clutch pack and is not removableNOTE: Piston pump is non-serviceable item and should not be disassembledReplace as an assembly if found to be damaged or non-working3Remove screws (arrows) retaining the outer cover plate assembly5Remove the output clutch assemblyInspect thrust bearing (B) for wearInspect the bearings, contact surfaces and splines of the output clutch for signs of wear or damageVisually inspect the clutch plate areaIf plates are steel-on-steel, or if the friction material is worn, the assembly should be replaced
