Overview
The Sportsman 500 EFI Tractor seat assembly consists of pivoting seat base holder that combines hydraulic dampener with spring preload to compensate for rider weightAdjust the seat spring preload for the comfort of lighter or heavier operatorReach under the rear rack to access the adjusterTighten the spring for heavier ridersLoosen the spring for lighter ridersSeat Preload Adjustment Use the following table to determine the best preload measurement for rider weightMeasure preload distance between the adjuster plate and the lower spring cup
Seat Dampener Repair WARNING
Spring Under Tension Use the proper precautions when working with springsAlways relieve spring tension before disassemblyWear safety glasses and other appropriate protection at all timesThe seat dampener is non-serviceable componentIf it is determined to be faulty, it must be replaced1IMPORTANT: Remove all spring preload before service2Remove the seat3Remove the fasteners and cross bolts from each end of the dampener assembly4Remove the dampener and install new one5Install the cross-bolts and fastenersTorque to standard specifications as listed in Chapter of the Sportsman Service Manual6Reinstall seat and adjust spring pre-load to desired setting
