ENGINE Water Pump Mechanical Seal Removal (Engine Installed)
Water Pump Mechanical Seal Puller: (PN 2872105) Replacement T-Handle: (PN 2872106) This tool allows technician to replace the mechanical water pump seal on EH50PL engines without removing the engine and splitting the casesPosition the split 90o to opening on main puller body 4Ensure that the split between the puller legs is fully supported by the main body of the tool5Tighten the hex socket screws on the puller legs sufficiently so the lip of the puller legs will grasp the mechanical sealHex Socket Screws 3Insert the puller legs between the water pump drive shaft and the remaining portion of the mechanical sealAttach the puller legs to the main puller bodyMain puller body

CAUTION
Improper or careless use of this tool or procedure can result in bent water pump shaftPump shaft replacement requires engine removal and crankcase separationUse caution while performing this procedureMake sure that the puller is parallel to the shaft at all timesDo not place side loads on the water pump shaft or strike the puller or shaft in any way1After the coolant has been drained, remove the water pump cover, impeller and the sealing washerSealing Washer Sealing Washer (Copper or Aluminium) Coolant Drain Bolt Oil Seal Impeller Mechanical Seal 2Slide the main puller body over the outer portion of the mechanical seal as shown below and turn T-Handle clockwise until it contacts water pump shaftContinue rotating until outer portion of mechanical seal is separated from the metal seal body
